BERMUDA STRAW

Nothing Goes to Waste

Bermuda Grass, Cynodon Dactylon, is a perennial warm-season grass grown on a large scale in California's Imperial Valley. While it's primarily grown for seed used in commercial and residential turf, it's also a valuable source of animal feed.

Once the seed is harvested, the remaining stems and leaves are baled as Bermuda Straw. The result is a clean, economical forage that's fed both domestically and internationally, making good use of a crop that's already been grown for another purpose.

Benefits

Bermuda straw is a practical, economical forage with benefits for both cattle operations and the land:

  • Cost-effective option for least-cost rations

  • Well suited for Wagyu and other cattle fed low-carotene forage

  • Perennial crop that doesn't need to be replanted or tilled each year

  • Deep root system that uses water and nutrients efficiently

Economical, consistent, and low in carotene, Bermuda straw is a smart fiber source for cattle operations focused on both cost and quality.

  • Extensive root system that helps store carbon in the soil

  • Low maintenance, requiring less tractor work and fewer inputs

  • Resilient and adaptable to a wide range of soil types

  • Byproduct of seed production, so nothing goes to waste
