Everyone at Border Valley Trading realizes a commitment to safe feed safety is paramount in today’s world as our products are fed to animals that produce food for people across the globe. Our commitment is to provide a safe, harmless product from our family to your family.

Border Valley Trading is aggressive to test certain products for historically known chemical residues. It works very closely with its grower base to educate them on concerns and residue limits in our markets. It also tracks the use of “on-farm” chemicals by its growers and will avoid buying product from fields with known concerns.

The company is also aggressive to educate growers about the risk of other contaminants. It avoids buying product from fields that have been recently fertilized with animal manure, recently grazed or fields with other potential contaminants such as dirt or weeds.

In 2003, the company aligned with other export companies (now 28 in total) to establish the National Hay Association's Export Processors Committee (EPC). As Chairman of that committee, we are very involved in indsutry efforts to improve feed safety. We take this issue very seriously and will strive to be leaders in all areas that influence feed safety.

In 2007, the company, in conjunction with the EPC, developed a set of written standards and guidelines that will enhance our current feed safety program. These guidelines were written after three years of work with foreign governments and foreign trade associations and with one common goal in mind...to greatly enhance our ability to meet or exceed feed safety requirements requested by all customers in all markets.
