Safe Feed
Everyone at Border Valley Trading realizes a commitment to safe feed safety is paramount in today’s world as our products are fed to animals that produce food for people across the globe. Our commitment is to provide a safe, harmless product from our family to your family.
Border Valley Trading works very closely with its grower base to educate them on concerns about residue limits from any of our markets. We test certain products for historically known chemical residues and monitor’s the use of “on-farm” chemicals by its growers.
The company is also aggressive to educate growers about the risk of other contaminants. It avoids buying product from fields that have been recently grazed or fields that have other potential contaminants such as dirt or weeds.
In 2003, the company aligned with other export companies (now 29 in total) to establish the National Hay Association’s Export Processors Council (EPC). With our active participation on the Board of the Council, BVT is very involved in industry efforts to improve feed safety as we take this issue very seriously and will strive to be leaders in all areas that ensure safe feed.
In 2007, the company, in conjunction with the EPC, developed a set of written guidelines that will enhance our feed safety program for all markets that we serve. These guidelines continue to evolve through our efforts and work with foreign governments and foreign trade associations. In the end, we all have one common goal…to meet or exceed feed safety requirements requested by all customers in all markets.
